KENYA – NYERI (AA TOP)

Coffee cultivation in Kenya is renowned for producing some of the highest-quality beans in the world, thanks to the country’s ideal growing conditions—fertile volcanic soils, high altitudes, and a favorable climate. With a deep cultural connection to the land, coffee farming is not just an economic activity but a tradition passed down through generations.

In November 2018, Menno Simons, founder of Trabocca, introduced a new approach to Kenya's coffee supply chain, offering Ksh 100 per kilogram of cherries instead of the usual Ksh 60. This shift brought hope to local farmers, who began calling it "the Kenyan coffee revolution." However, the revolution extends beyond one contract or price increase. Trabocca, alongside agronomists like Dr. Bernard Gichimu, is committed to continuous improvements in coffee quality and yield. Through training and best practices, they help farmers enhance crop quality and productivity, creating a sustainable, fairer future for Kenyan coffee.
